out our Prize Page for more details.
Q: I won! -- How do I claim my prize?
When you win a prize, we'll send you an email with instructions on how to claim your prize.
Q: Why do I need to give you documentation? I don’t do this on other gaming web sites.
Velvet Deck is a US-based company that operates in full compliance with all federal, state and local laws.
This includes reporting any amount you win over $600 (see IRS regulations here www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/
0,,id=161511,00.html). In order to do so, we are required by the IRS to have a W-9 (US) or W-8BEN (non-US) on file.
Q: What do you do with this information, and how secure is it?
Unless the IRS explicitly requests it or audits us, the W-9 and W-8BEN documents filed with us remain in our
possession. These and any other documents, information or emails you send us are subject to the Velvet Deck Privacy
Policy, and are not published, disclosed or shared with anyone except as required by law or as provided for in the Privacy
Policy. Any paper document you send us is scanned, and the original is destroyed utilizing a cross-cut shredder within 7
days of receipt. Scanned documents and emails are stored on our secure servers, which utilize the same state-of-the-art
encryption that we use to keep our games secure.
Q: What documents do you need?
If you are a US citizen, we need:
A completed IRS Form W-9. Note that this form can be filled out on your computer, and in most cases doesn't
require a signature. The form can be found by clicking: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw9.pdf
Proof of residence and age verification. If your valid driver's license has your correct address (matching the one
we have on file for you), that's all we need. If the address isn't correct, we need BOTH of the following:
Scanned copy of your valid driver's license OR passport, AND
Scanned copy of a recent bill (utility, mortgage or credit card) that shows the address we have on file.
If you are not a US citizen, we need:
A completed IRS Form W-8BEN. The form can be found by clicking: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw8ben.pdf
Proof of residence and age verification. If your valid driver's license has your correct address (matching the one
we have on file for you), that's all we need. If the address isn't correct, we need BOTH of the following:
Scanned copy of your valid driver's license OR passport, AND
Scanned copy of a recent bill (utility, mortgage or credit card) that shows the address we have on file
for you.
Q: Where do I send my documents?
When submitting documents please be sure to include your full name and your User Name. Without this information
your processing will be delayed.
1 . email: documents@velvetdeck.com
2 . Fax: 866-797-4155 When submitting documents via fax, please be sure that your driver's license is enlarged and
not too dark. Documents must be completely legible for approval and faxed documents tend to come through
darker than the original. We suggest enlarging your license by at least 100% and lightening the tones a bit.
Q: What if my information doesn't match what you have on file?
The name and address that you provide on these documents must match what we have on file. If your mailing
address is not current, you can change it by clicking on "Requests" and then "Update account information" in the Velvet
Deck client program.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You CANNOT change your name as registered with us. If the name on your documents
doesn't match what you filed with us when you created your account, we need a letter or email from you explaining the
discrepancy. If you had a legal name change, you will need to email a copy of your marriage certificate or court document
to documents@velvetdeck.com.
Q: Do you withhold any amounts from my winnings?
Generally the answer is 'no,' but there are some exceptions:
1. If you win more than $5,000, the IRS may require us to do backup withholding of 28%. If this happens, we will pay
these amounts to the IRS on your behalf, and you will receive a backup withholding statement from us at the end of the
year showing any amounts withheld.
2. If you are not a US citizen, and your country does not have a tax treaty with the US, we may be required to do backup
withholding of 30%.
In either of these cases, you should consult a tax professional for further advice.
Q: Why do I need to give you this information now when I haven't yet won over $600?
The reason we require a W-9 as soon as you cash out any amount is that we need to be sure we can obtain this
information if and when we do need it for reporting. If you were to cash out $500 without filing a W-9, and then won
another $100 and didn't provide the W-9 upon our request, we would be liable for the taxes on your entire $600 win, plus
penalties.
Q: When I win money in a slot machine in Las Vegas, they don't report it to the IRS unless it's over $1,200, why do you report winnings over $600?
The short answer is that the rules for slot machines are different because they are considered games of chance.
Your winnings on slot machines (also keno and video poker) are reported on IRS Form W-2G (Certain Gambling
Winnings). Because playing on VelvetDeck.com is considered a contest rather than gambling, your winnings are reported
as contest winnings and are subject to the $600 limitation (see IRS regulations here: www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/
0,,id=161511,00.html).
Q: What are the chat rules of conduct?
We want Velvet Deck to be a fun and entertaining site for all of our players. Profanity, harassment, abuse or any other
chat that players might find offensive isn’t acceptable and will not be tolerated. If you see a member violating these rules
of conduct, please email support@velvetdeck.com and we will take immediate and appropriate action.

PICK’EM FAQs
Q: What is the objective when playing PICK’EM?
Velvet Deck's PICK’EM is a challenging game that puts not only your sports prediction talents to the ultimate test,
but we like to throw in those reality shows/contest to keep it interesting. The objective of the game is to accumulate
the longest winning streak during the month-long Challenge Period by selecting the winning team (or player) in
advance of an ongoing variety of matchups. You will also be able to bet your tokens (TOKENS) to help you win the
overall Player's Club prize. Choose correctly and win 2x your wager of TOKENS, choose incorrectly and lose it.
Q: How is my streak measured?
All participants start at zero. Your streak is measured by the number of consecutive matchup you select the correct
winner of. If you win a matchup your streak continues, if you lose it you're back to 0.
Q: Do I have to play every day?
You are not required to play every day, but the more matchups you predict successfully, the longer the streak!
Q: Can I make more than one pick at a time?
No. The game is designed so you can only make one pick at a time. This gives you the challenge to come back after
each pick is final and make another. Note that even if you have a matchup picked you can still change it as long as the
matchup hasn't started yet.
Q: What happens if I make a pick on a matchup that never happens?
In the event a matchup that you selected does not take place (for any reason), your streak will NOT end, rather the
matchup will be listed as "Cancelled", "Postponed" or "OFF" and scored as a "PUSH".
Q: If my pick ends in a PUSH is my streak reset back to 0?
No! Any matchup that goes final with a PUSH result is scored as if the event didn't happen.
Q: What is TOKENS used for in PICK’EM?
TOKENS is tokens used when wagering on a pick in our PICK EM game.
Q: How do I get more TOKENS?
Every member that registers is automatically credited with at least 10 TOKENS to start. There are additional ways to
get more TOKENS. See more details here.
Q: Do I have to wager TOKENS when making a pick?
No. You do not have to wager any TOKENS to make a pick. The option to wager TOKENS is simply for purposes
of increasing your TOKENS balance for an opportunity to win the Player’s Club prize at the end of the month.
Q: How much TOKENS do I win if my pick is correct?
If you win, you win 2X the amount of your wager.
Q: Why do some of the matchups have the question part and some don't?
The matchups which appear with the questions are considered "props", while the ones that don't are "straight up".
Props are manually entered by the Game Admin and can either be used to add a matchup around a specific event, or be
used to include an event which we do not have an automated feed for. Props also allow us to get creative in matching up
two completely different or unrelated sets of results (e.g. "Cole Hamel Pitch Count" vs. "Points scored by Philadelphia
76ers"). Straight up matchups are between two teams and you're asked to simply pick who will win the game. Props
can require a bit more thought and research in determining the winner. Regardless of picking a "prop" or "straight up"
matchup the end result for you is the same - either a win or a loss.
Q: How many matchups will be on the board each day?
It depends on the sporting schedule around the world. There is no fixed limit to how many or how few
each day. We'll try to offer matchups at as many different time intervals as possible to maximize game play.
Q: Will new matchups be added during the day?
Yes. Any matchup can be entered six (6) hours prior to the matchups start time. In most cases the matchups you see at
midnight ET will be all that are included for the next day, but note we might add one or two late night or early morning.
Q: Can a matchup be pulled off the board after I've picked it?
Yes, matchups can be removed from the board or set as OFF at anytime. There are a number of different circumstances
which can lead this happening. The most common are weather delays where the Game Admin decides the matchup is
better off not played. This is done to ensure your matchup is not locked overnight, or blocks a significant amount of
the picks for the current day. In most cases this will not happen after a significant amount of time has taken place, or
the outcome is mostly already decided. Matchups can also be pulled off the board if a significant change in the winning
probability is determined.
Q: How are Soccer "total points" matchups scored?
There are many types of soccer matches added to our game. In tournament format matches (e.g. The English Carling
Cup), there are no "draws" therefore there must be a winner. In this case, overtime goals count towards the Streak score
because the match cannot end in a tie (unless noted otherwise), but if the match goes to penalty kicks, those do NOT.
In other leagues (e.g. The UEFA Champions League), teams play two matches against their specific opponent, also
known as an aggregate matchup. If match two of a specific aggregate is added to our board, the time allowed in our "total
points" matchup is for this specific match, which is only 90 minutes plus extra time. If the aggregate score is tied after
this completed match, the two teams continue to play until someone scores, which will advance them to the next round.
Q: What if there is a tie for the Grand Prize at the end of the month?
In the event that two (2) or more entrants are tied for the Grand Prize, the following tiebreakers will take place in the
indicated order:
1. Entry with the higher winning percentage during the Challenge Period.
2. Entry with more total wins during the Challenge Period.
3. Random Drawing.
Q: What are the prizes I could win?
Visit our Prize List page.
VOTE’EM FAQs
Q: What is the objective when playing VOTE’EM?
Velvet Deck's VOTE’EM is a challenging game/contest that puts your looks and social networking abilities to the
ultimate test. The objective of the game/contest is to accumulate the most total votes from the PLAYERS (members) by
the end of the month. Beauty alone may not be enough in this contest. You will need to engage with as many PLAYERS
as possible, because they and they alone determine who will be crowned the next Velvet Girl of the Month. We provide
you with the tools to succeed. Now it’s up to you to use them. For example, you are given TOKENS (virtual currency) that
the PLAYERS want. TOKENS allows them to vote more and it also puts them in the running to win their own contest –
the PLAYER with the most TOKENS at the end of the month also wins. See it is a simple, you scratch my back and I will
scratch yours! There is also a chat feature on the site, which allows for you to promote yourself as you network.
Q: What is a TOKENS Call?
A TOKENS call is simply a Friend Request. When you send a TOKENS Call, that Player will receive by email
a request to be your friend. Once s/he accepts, you can then chat with them on the site. It’s very similar to Facebook!
Q: I want to give a Player TOKENS?
Visit the Players Club page and click on ‘Give TOKENS’.
Q: Can a Velvet Girl contestant win more than one time?
A Velvet Girl contestant can only win once each year.
